Fuel Scavenging

Assume for a moment that power is out and will not be restored for quite some time (you pick how long)... So dropping by the local Mobil station is not an option. You find a very nice person who says, sure, I have a 20 gallon tank in my car that is full of unleaded, you can have it if you can get it out.

Soooooo.... The first option is a siphon. I've used them, I hate them. Sure, they are low tech and have no moving parts and will work but you will be left with a very bad taste in your mouth for sure.

Most every electric pump (12V or 120) is made for diesel only, so they are out and the tiny battery operated pumps just wont keep up.

Is there any (manual, or electric) pump that you know about that would be suitable? Something rugged that has a GPM volume that is near 1 or greater? Should an emergency run longer fuel scavenging is going to become a must and the easier you can do it the better. Siphoning although simple is not always going to be the best option.

Any ideas? Bonus points if its got a hose long enough and is strong enough to pull from an underground tank ;-)
